Fast CAT “Try It”, Picnic, and Meeting, May 29

When is a Beardie a Fast CAT?
Interesting question. Learn the answer on May 29, 2021!

FAST CAT® – which stands for Coursing Ability Test – is a timed 100-yard dash where dogs run one at a time, chasing a lure. It’s over before you know it — and it’s nothing short of awe-inspiring to watch your dog run at top speed, ears back, eyes focused, legs strong.

The National Capital Bearded Collie Club is sponsoring a “TRY IT” Fast CAT event at Hog Dog Productions, Millersville, MD on Saturday, May 29, 2021. Starting at 10 a.m., we will have instruction in introducing our dogs to the lure and our handlers to the sport. Dogs will be provided at least two runs, with a third available, time permitting. This is a non-competitive event, providing experience to dog and handler teams. The field is fully fenced and will provide a safe but exciting opportunity for all. The two runs will cost $12. If time is available for a third try, there will be an additional $5 fee payable at the event.

Following the Fast CAT opportunity, members may enjoy a group picnic (bring your hampers and pop-up tents) and participate in the May General Membership meeting of the NCBCC. The meeting is estimated to begin at 12:30.
